Greg joined the Royal Marines YO38 Batch in September 1968 (why he will never know as he wanted to be a pilot). He then did the classic RM officer training and was then posted to 41 Cdo in Bickliegh and then Belfast. Greg then went to 40 Cdo in Singapore where he completed aJungle Warfare course before being posted to Oman.
He then went back to 40 Cdo in Plymouth in 1972, and after serving as Liaison officer to General Patrick Ovens OBE MC in 3 Cdo Bde he was sent to the Royal Navy for Cdo Sqn service in 845 Sqn.
845 Sqdn hosted HRH the Prince of Wales as the embarked Sqdn on HMS Hermes.
Greg left the Corps in 1977 to join the AAC, an agreement that lasted 1 year before he left to become a "civvie" pilot.
He flew North Sea helicopters for 10 years then into the easier world of fixed wing. His career choice was to see him follow the "Management Line", so he has ended up specialising in the VVIP / Royal Flight Ops Management roles.
Currently Greg is in Almaty Kazakhstan, well behind the Iron Curtain which we trained to counter all those years ago!
